The safety of our guests and staff is paramount, and we have implemented all necessary procedures in accordance with guidance from the World Health Organisation, the UK Government, and VisitScotland, to ensure a safe environment so you can enjoy the amazing space here in the Arrochar Alps and the Scottish Highlands.
In particular we have put in place procedures to enhance our already high cleaning standards including:
We are allowing additional time for cleaning, disinfecting, and ventilation between guest stays, in accordance with best practice guidelines. To support this we have had to introduce a minimum 2 night stay for all our rooms.
All rooms and common areas will be cleaned with an EU14476 certified virucidal disinfectant
Hand sanitiser will be available in the entrance hall, bedrooms, and guest sitting room
Exterior door handles and other common surfaces will be sanitised regularly during the day
We have removed books and soft furnishings from the bedrooms and common areas
Social distancing is another important precaution, so we have added these measures:
Guest check in and check out will be completely contactless
There will be no breakfast buffet and all food will be plated, no sauces, condiments, milk jugs, bread etc will be shared
Masks will be used by staff in accordance to best practice guidelines, and hands washed frequently
We ask all guests to observe social distancing protocols whenever they are in the house and to self-certify non infection before arrival
We look forward to welcoming you to Ashfield House and making your stay as wonderful as it is safe and secure.
After a good night's sleep our guest can look forward to breakfasts in our spacious breakfast room. Breakfasts include a "full Scottish" with bacon and sausage, potato scones, fried eggs and black pudding (although the black pudding is not obligatory). Our bacon, sausages, black pudding and potato scones are from Callaghans, an independent and long established award winning butcher in Helensburgh. The eggs are "produced" 200m from Ashfield House at Succoth Farm. Vegetarians and vegans needn't miss out on a "full Scottish" and we always have vegan sausages and haggis available. We are proud to serve Argyll Coffee Roasters fresh ground coffee at breakfast and in the rooms.
We also serve smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, and fresh kippers. The smoked salmon and the kippers are from the renowned Loch Fyne, internationally famous for its fish and seafood, and smoked at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar in Cairndow. And we've just added (vegan friendly) pancakes and maple syrup to the menu, in recognition of Cristina's American heritage..
Fresh home-made bread, made using organic flour, and a toasting station are provided in the breakfast room, along with fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals. Soya yogurts and almond milk are available on request if you don't want any dairy products. The preserves are made locally, and the berries are home grown too! We make our own marmalade and our jams are either made by ourselves or sourced locally.
We also make our own “welcome treats” to be found in your room upon arrival. Again, all ingredients are locally sourced where possible.
We have a comfortable sitting room for the use of our guests - a calm and warm place to relax after a day exploring the Arrochar Alps or perhaps travelling further afield. There are books on the local area to read, novels to loose yourself in, and games to have fun with.
We welcome all guests with a complimentary single malt whiskey (and to choose from a selection of local malts) and invite them to relax in the sitting room, unwind and enjoy the amazing loch views.
Our guests are welcome to use the large front garden and seating area, with sweeping views down Loch Long and across to Beinn Narnain and The Brack (the garden is great for yoga in the mornings - as one of our guests has already enjoyed). Cushions and blankets are available if needed. There is a fire pit and a good supply of wood for those chilly evenings.
We have also just bought a couple of bikes and our guests are welcome to borrow these (and helmets and locks) if you would like to. We only have 2 bikes so please let us know if you would like to reserve these for your stay.
There is private off street parking at Ashfield House for all guests, and secure bike storage, including for motorbikes, if required.
